Bananas are breakfast staples, and so are coffee and milk. The three ingredients have a place on the breakfast table, but what happens when you blend them? You get breakfast in a mug.
Today we’re making banana milk coffee, and as the name suggests, this is a combination of bananas, milk and coffee, but there’s more. This is an authentic treat with spices and vanilla, and the texture is so icy and smooth that you’ll fall for this drink instantly.
To make banana milk coffee, you need a ripe banana (make sure it’s not too mushy or bruised), milk, cold brew coffee, cinnamon powder, vanilla extract and sugar. We’re blending everything with ice cubes for a lovely smoothie.
If you don’t have cold brew coffee, make a batch. It does take 24 hours, but it’s totally worth it. Combine water and a few tablespoons of roasted coffee beans and leave them in the fridge. The water will absorb the coffee’s flavors and intensity for a fruity and not at all bitter drink.
This one is easy. This is the quintessential breakfast shake. Think of it as a grown-up version of the classic banana milkshake. And thanks to the ice shards, this tasty drink kind of feels and tastes like ice cream; it’s fantastic!
You can also make this drink and pour it into a coffee mug with a lid to carry around. I would leave the ice out, though, or the drink will get watered down within a few minutes.
I love making this drink whenever I get my hands on a slice of banana bread. Any coffee cake works nicely with this creamy drink, too. If the pastry has some cinnamon in it, even better because it will mirror the flavors in the shake. Think of pecan pie, cinnamon rolls and similar.
Let’s make ourselves a glass of banana milk coffee. It’s ready in ten minutes or fewer, and you’ll enjoy it massively! A piece of advice, make sure your blender can handle ice cubes; I learn that the hard way.
In a blender, add one cup of ice cubes, two teaspoons of sugar and the cold brew. Blend until smooth and icy. Pour divided into two cups, mugs or mason jars.
Now, blend the banana with the rest of the sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, milk and ice cubes. Pour over the coffee mixture and serve immediately. Enjoy!
