Double Chocolaty Chip Creme Frappuccino

Starbucks Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino is deliciousness over deliciousness. This tasty cold drink is delightful and, to some extent, mischievously decadent. I haven’t met anyone who doesn’t love chocolate, have you?

To make your copycat version of this blended treat at home, you want to stick to the original recipe as much as possible. This means you’ll have to start with the Starbucks ingredient list for the drink:

Ice, milk, whipped cream, frappuccino chips, frappuccino syrup, and mocha sauce. I’m sure you’ve got the first three ingredients covered. The remaining three we must substitute.

Frappuccino chips are an odd ingredient comprising a dozen different things, from palm oil to lecithin. But we’re using pure chocolate chips and Oreo wafers instead. Oreo wafers are the Oreo biscuits without the cream filling, but you can substitute them with any chocolate cookie or biscuit.

Mocha sauce is a fancy name for chocolate syrup, so use Hershey’s or any other brand, and you’ll get the same results. The frappuccino syrup is Starbucks’ house sweetener, which we could easily substitute with sugar, but the chocolate syrup is already sweet, so we’ll just skip it.

I should warn you; the Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino is packed with sugar and chocolate, it’s a calorie bomb! So, you want to drink these sparingly. This frappuccino, though, is so delicious it’s worth enjoying once in a while.

The other thing is that this frappuccino has no caffeine, which might or might not be good news to you. On the bright side, you can always add a shot of espresso to this one if you need your caffeine boost. I know I do, and the result is a fantastic, well-rounded coffee-chocolate combo hard to match.

You’ll be amazed how this drink looks, feels and tastes exactly like the original, and I would say it’s even better. Quality ingredients will always prevail, and real chocolate chips definitely make the difference. Choose milk chocolate chips for a mild version of this drink or go for the bitter and classy version using 80% cacao baker’s chocolate chips.
