The thing with homemade ice cream is that you can make it as easy or as complicated as you want. 

If you have an ice cream machine, I’m pretty sure you don’t use it all that often, and you know what? You don’t even need one to make decent ice cream. 

All you need is five ingredients, a few mixing bowls, and an electric hand mixer. Really!

How to make coffee ice cream at home?

To make ice cream, you need lots of creamy ingredients, in this case, condensed milk and heavy whipping cream. The first serves as our sweetener, and the latter plays the most critical role. 

The secret behind excellent ice cream is the number of bubbles infused in the whipping cream — that’s what gives ice cream its silken smooth texture.

We’re also using some milk to make the mixture more manageable, and finally, the flavoring can be anything from strawberry sauce to chocolate to peanut butter. In this case, it’s instant coffee. 

You want to use the powdered coffee instead of fresh coffee because coffee has just too much water, and it will make your ice cream too runny.

To make the ice cream, we combine the milk, condensed milk and coffee first, then whisk the heavy cream. It all comes together later and the ice cream goes straight into the fridge. That’s easy, right?

How to serve coffee ice cream?

Enjoying this ice cream is easy. Just scoop it and enjoy. Of course, you can always amp it up a bit with a dab of whipped cream, a chocolate syrup drizzle or some crushed nuts.

In a mixing bowl, combine the milk, condensed milk and instant coffee. Set aside.


In a second mixing bowl, whisk the heavy cream until soft peaks form.


Fold the whipped cream into the milk mixture gently and pour into a container.


Freeze overnight.
