The holidays are one and the same with warm coffee. There’s just no better drink to enjoy when the temperature drops. Of course, not any coffee does the trick; you need the correct type of coffee to give you warmth during the chilliest of nights.
Hello, peppermint coffee! This creamy, minty and foamy drink is perfect for the cold season, and it’s super easy to put together. There’s more — we’re garnishing this specialty with a crushed candy cane!
Chocolaty and silky, this is one drink you’ll want to add to your holiday traditions. By the way, this peppermint coffee looks as pretty as it is tasty.
To make peppermint coffee, you need some coffee. Anything from percolator to drip or expresso will work fine. I use one and a half cups of drip coffee for mine.
You’ll also need peppermint syrup, which is an easy find, and half & half or cream. To amp up the coffee, we’re also adding chocolate syrup. As a garnish, a cloud of whipped cream will do the trick, especially when topped with a crushed peppermint candy cane!
Obviously, this is a seasonal specialty, although you can make it all year-round, provided you have some peppermint candy canes laying around!
Having said that, this coffee goes great with many cookies, from shortbread to chocolate chip cookies. This one’s also fantastic with any baking teat blessed by brown fall spices. And a slice of coffee cake is lovely as well!
The neatest thing about peppermint coffee is that it tastes like the holidays at home, so try it with friends and family this winter. Make it on the chilliest of evenings to keep everyone warm and cozy.
Caramel sauce is a beautiful substitute for chocolate syrup in this one, as the caramel is beautifully compatible with holiday flavors.
The candy cane is optional, and you can substitute it with powdered cinnamon or cocoa powder. As for the milk, use your favorite type of milk or milk substitute; I recommend trying this one with oat or almond milk!
Brew strong coffee with your preferred method.
Combine the coffee with the peppermint syrup, half & half and chocolate syrup and stir.
Pour the peppermint coffee into two cups.
Top with whipped cream, crush the peppermint candy can and dust the cups with crushed candy.
