This sounds like it’s going to be fun. Frosted coffee? If you love coffee as much as we do, then you are in for a new fun treat. Yes, your regular iced coffee is amazing and does the job. But sometimes you want a dessert-style drink. We can show you how to combine your love of coffee and all things chilly to make a delicious frosted coffee.
Sure, you could always run through the drive-thru for one. But what about when you want to do something fun at your next get-together? It’s an easy way to make a treat for everyone that doesn’t require a ton of ingredients. Staying home will be better with a frosted coffee in everyone’s hands. Here’s how to make it.
Is this another name for an iced coffee? Nope. This is a whole new level of delicious. It’s more a shake consistency. If you love coffee in every single one of its glorious forms, then you’ll want to try this.
Personally, we couldn’t have something like this all of the time. But for a special treat or a fun weekend party, a frosted coffee will hit the spot. They are easy to make, only require a few ingredients, and can be made as extra as you want. Or you can make the most basic form. They are easily played with.
It’s a blended drink. That means you are putting it through the blender. Drinking it might require a spoon or at the very least a straw. This isn’t something you can chug down 10 minutes before you have to clock in for work to get ready for your shift. A frosted coffee is meant to be enjoyed slowly. Okay, let’s get into making one.
Ingredients are key when making something at home. If you are trying something new, it’s always best to try to follow the recipe exactly. After you make it the first time, if it doesn’t come out quite how you hoped, then you can play with the ingredients.
Some other recipes call for water instead of ice. You can use your favorite coffee grounds instead of instant. This is where you can make it one way, see if you like it, then try another way. Then try blending recipes. That’s what we do. We go by the book one way and then have fun mixing a few recipes to get it how we want.
You can also make this with premade iced coffee. There are so many options. If you can’t decide which recipe to use, you can always hit up wherever serves your favorite frosted coffee drink. Ask them for the recipe. They will more than likely be able to help you.
The fun part. The steps of how to make one. This is for one single serving. You can adjust if you want to make a huge batch for friends.
You throw this in a blender until it’s the smooth consistency you love. It shouldn’t take any longer than a minute. It could be ready in as little as 30 seconds if you have a super awesome blender.
You can drink it like this if you want, or you can put it in the freezer if you want it a little bit thicker.
If you want to make it a more adulty drink, pour a little bit of coffee liquor in there. We aren’t saying that’s our favorite, but aren’t not saying that. Let’s continue.
If you want to make it more “restaurant-style” and spice it up a bit, add some fun toppings. You can make your own whipped cream. You only need a few ingredients and you already have your blender out.
How much of each depends on how much you need to make. You also don’t have to use the coffee creamer if you don’t want to. It’s really about whipping the cream and powdered sugar together well.
In a cold bowl blend your cream until you see those frothy peaks. Then add in about 1-2 tablespoons of powdered sugar, depending on how sweet you want it. If you want to use your coffee creamer, add it in now, too. Only use about ¼ to ½ cup of the creamer. Again, use less if you don’t want the whipped cream as sweet. It should be the icing on the cake (or cup) and not overwhelm the main event.
You can also sprinkle your favorite spice on top.
These are some amazing options that would taste great dusted on the top of your frosted coffee. You could even put the whipped cream on and then sprinkle the spice. Ugh. Now we want one. This sounds so good.
Well, of course not. What blended drink is actually good for you? None of them. But it’s not horrible for you either. The basic drink can have anywhere between 500 and 600 calories. We mean, it could be worse, right?
But then you add the whipped cream. You add anything else you want to top it with. Now it’s looking like this drink is going to be 2 of your meals in calories weight.
Are we telling you not to have one? What are we, psychos? No. We are telling you to enjoy this frothy drink as much as you want. We felt obliged to let you know about the calories because some people care about that. Everything in moderation is acceptable. Everything.
Now you know how to make a new way to enjoy your coffee. This would be perfect for a lazy Sunday. Or after a really bad day at work. Or to celebrate some good news. For anything really. Make sure to let us know when you are making them. We like ours with a bit of Bailey’s.
