What if you couldn’t go out to your local coffee shop to get a cold cup of iced coffee? And what if the weather was so hot you didn’t feel like making your own?
Well, you can make your own without breaking a sweat by using instant coffee. It’s as fast as blending a smoothie, literally, it takes ten minutes or fewer. It tastes just like store-bought, though, so you’ve got to try it!
It all started with me playing around with cold coffee recipes. I like incorporating proper espresso into my drinks, but I always have some instant espresso around. The thing is, instant coffee doesn’t dilute your drink as regular coffee does, so you get a much more intense and flavorful drink!
Six ingredients are all you need to make this tasty, iced coffee, and I guarantee you already have them at home. Let’s starts with the milk — choose any milk you have in hand, even plant-based milk alternatives; they all work just fine.
We’ll use instant coffee, but also a pinch of cocoa powder; that’s what they use in coffee shops. A few drops of vanilla extract make a world of difference, too, and then you just need ice and whipping cream, which is optional. As for the equipment needed, you only need a blender and glasses to pour your ice coffee in.
Now, if you’re making instant iced coffee, why not take it to the next level? Throw in an ounce of chocolate sauce for a fantastic iced mocha, or add a teaspoon of pumpkin spice for a seasonal pumpkin spice latte. You can also add a scoop of protein powder for a neat after-work-out drink, and a drizzle of caramel sauce will turn your iced coffee into a caramel macchiato instantly!
The recipe below makes for two large glasses of iced coffee because you know you want to share this one with someone special. A final tip: You can use any sweetener you want, just add it to the blender with the rest of the ingredients, taste and adjust to your liking.
In a blender, add the milk, instant coffee, cacao powder, sweetener to taste and vanilla extract. Blend until fully incorporated and foamy.
Fill two glasses with fresh ice and pour in the coffee.
Top with whipped cream. Sprinkle extra cocoa powder as a garnish.
