Refresher is a fancy word for soft drinks, especially when refreshing! And although we’ve enjoyed soft drinks since we were kids, refreshers are trendy right now, and that’s exciting!
Making refreshers at home is easier than you think. You only need the right recipe to ensure the sweet and tangy flavors are balanced. The rest is easy! So, why not make an iced lemon-orange refresher drink?
Citrus fruit is heavenly. Sweet and sour, refreshing and packed with nutrients. We should all consume more lemons and oranges. Citrus fruit is also easy to find all year round, so why not make the most of them?
This is no regular refresher, though; it’s meant to be shared with friends and family, especially on warm days, spending the evening on the porch or backyard. The recipe below makes four glasses of lemon-orange refresher, so make an entire batch at once!
To make this refreshing drink, we’ll start with freshly squeezed orange juice. Try to use fresh juice and not the one that comes in a box. You’ll also need lemon juice, if fresh, even better.
Although orange juice is relatively sweet, you’ll need a few ounces of simple syrup to balance the tartness — use your favorite low-calorie sugar substitute if you prefer. The rest is topping our refresher with sparkling water to lighten it up and give it a lovely fizz.
Although this one is all about its refreshing flavor, the looks matter as well, so garnish your refreshers with orange wheels — make it look as tasty as it really is!
In a pitcher, combine the orange and lemon juice.
Sweeten with simple syrup or sugar and stir until dissolved.
Fill four glasses with ice and orange wedges as a garnish and pour the iced lemon-orange refresher.
Top with sparkling water and stir to combine.
