Ultimate Thai Iced Coffee Recipe

I cannot get enough of this coffee but I can’t go on complimenting my recipe. You will have to try it to experience the indulging taste. Again like all my coffee recipes, it’s simple and easy to follow recipe. But the result you’ll get from this recipe will not leave your mind any time soon. The recipe is inspired by my lovely childhood neighbors. I still remember their house was filled with the scent of this coffee all the time. Their recipe was great but it was way too tropical for my taste. I made some modifications, did the trial and error process, and prepared a recipe to match my palate. Hopefully, all of you will love it.

It’s plain coffee with a couple of exotic ingredients that give it the traditional aroma and taste that will be hard to forget. These memorable ingredients are cardamom and saffron. Saffron is actually the world’s most sought-after spice and not easily available. So if you can’t find it that’s okay, cardamom will do the job just fine. It has a distinct indulging aroma that will embellish your regular coffee. In some versions of this recipe, turmeric is used as well and it surely has many health benefits. But I only used saffron and cardamom.

But do try to find some saffron if you easily can. The taste that it will bring to your coffee is something you won’t forget. Some versions of this recipe add alcohol to the coffee at the end. I do not like booze in this type of coffee. I just don’t see cardamom, saffron, and alcohol mixing well. But if you like it then do add a little swig of alcohol of your choice at the end.

Moreover, this is really the best coffee to alleviate your mood and get rid of those Monday or Wednesday blues whichever you are getting these days. For the coffee, I started with brewing coffee, then added saffron and cardamom powder so their taste and fragrance can be infused with the coffee completely. I let the coffee stand until it reached room temperature. Then I added some sweetened whole milk in the coffee. Afterward, I poured the coffee into an already chilled glass. And there you have it! A cup of traditional and ultimate Thai iced coffee in no time.
